About Lakeview
The name comes from the close location to Lake Ponchartran and Lakeview was built on reclaimed land from the lake. It's a pretty affluent neighborhood with plenty to offer for those looking to call the neighborhood home.
Lakeview is defined as a neighborhood found between City Park Avenue, Orleans Avenue, Lakeshore Drive and the Jefferson Parish line. The larger area also includes the Navarre, West End and Lakewood neighborhoods.
Known as one of the hottest neighborhoods in New Orleans, Lakeview provides a great location and plenty of things to do. It's just a few minutes from the lakefront, yacht clubs and marina, along with City Park. Downtown New Orleans is easily accessible, as well.

Real Estate in Lakeview
Lakeview has been a neighborhood on its' way back since Hurricane Katrina. It's filled with many remodeled homes and some new construction options throughout. Many cottages from the 1950s are found here, along with Craftsman homes and even a number of multi-family options.
Most properties found in Lakeview provide large yards, private driveways and plenty of privacy. Some even come with backyard swimming pools. It's becoming more common to find a newly construction custom home within the neighborhood.
Nearly every home in the neighborhood is beautiful. Form the ranch-style homes made of brick to the larger stately options with white columns. The neighborhood offers many options for the more affluent home buyer.
Shopping, Dining & Entertainment
The location of Lakeview offers residents access to everything they need. Plenty of shopping is found nearby with a number of dining options, too. Easy access to the downtown area allows for even more shopping and dining for residents to enjoy.
The Robert E. Lee Boulevard, Harrison Avenue and West End corridors offer a number of coffee shops, supermarkets, restaurants and other retail options. Over the past decade, this area of Lakeview has exploded with new businesses.
Those looking to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather will have plenty of options, as well. City Park is filled with great things to do with lagoons, bayous and other features. In addition, Lake Pontchartrain isn't far away from Lakeview. Residents also enjoy strolling, biking and jogging throughout the area with plenty of bike paths and walkways available.
Lakeview also offers some of the oldest live oaks in New Orleans found in City Park. The Botanical Garden and Arboretum offer even more for nature lovers to enjoy.
City Park is also the place for some of the best events in the city. The festival grounds here host all kinds of special events for residents to enjoy throughout the year.
Living in Lakeview
Lakeview offers plenty of great homes, things to do, places to go and beautiful views. It's not found in downtown, but offers easy and quick access to the downtown area. Those looking to live outside of Downtown New Orleans will enjoy what the Lakeview neighborhood has to offer.
Living in Lakeview offers the best of both worlds. You get a more private place to call home, yet you're close enough to commute for work. In addition, you get to enjoy easy access to the lake and one of the largest parks in the area.
