The neighborhood known as Old Metairie is a part of the larger Metairie Community. It's actually a very historic area with beautiful architecture found throughout. Residents enjoy access to great local shopping, plenty of places to eat and drink and so much more.
This charming community is much like living in the Uptown neighborhood with more of a suburban atmosphere. There's plenty to enjoy about living in Old Metairie and many new residents to New Orleans find it to be an attractive place to call home.

Real Estate in Old Metairie
Many restored cottages and other historic homes are found throughout Old Metairie. It's known for providing plenty of large, two-story home and a number of sprawling estates and plenty of privacy. The architecture throughout the area includes homes with styles, such as English Tudor, Colonial Revival and Green Mission.
Homes in Old Metairie come in many forms including luxury homes, condos and even some lots for construction. Many of the homes in the neighborhood are very close to I-10 giving residents easy access to downtown New Orleans.
It's not uncommon to find a large home with white columns in Old Metairie. Some of the homes get as large at 8,000 square feet and may reach prices close to $4 million. More affordable homes are also found throughout the area and so are some condominiums.
Location of Old Metairie
Old Metairie is found between Causeway Boulevard, 17th Street Canal, Airline Highway and Veterans Boulevard in the Orleans Parish. It used to be a farming community, but became one of the first suburbs of New Orleans. The location provides easy access to downtown and many other popular areas throughout New Orleans.
Shopping, Dining & Entertainment
The shopping throughout Old Metairie is made up of local shops and boutiques. Metairie Road is the center of the shopping area with many of the local boutiques and other businesses found on Metairie Road or nearby.
Along with excellent shopping, Old Metairie is home to plenty of great places to eat. Sun Ray Grill is one of the top spots and residents also enjoy Mark Twain's Pizza Landing. In addition, Vega Tapas is very popular and plenty of other great restaurants are found throughout the neighborhood. It's not uncommon for residents to enjoy sitting on the patio of one of the many restaurants enjoying a drink or a meal.
The Metairie Country Club is one of the top places for recreation. The club includes a state-of-the-art sports complex with an exercise room, tennis courts, steam rooms, locker rooms and pro shop. Members also enjoy the golf course and the full service practice area.
Old Metairie is also home to a number of grand churches and some of the best private and parochial schools in the city.

Residents living in Old Metairie choose the neighborhood because of the history, location and amazing architecture.
